DOE A YAE V, from Bandula Park to Innyae Lake

Bandula Park

Let poetry be our absolute weapon

Where DOE A YAE I took place some days ago, let’s start again to write.
To write the poem
 (…)
Our believes were flying up high like hawks
Arab spring has just started now
Myanmar’s spring was already started since 8.8.88
Delicate smell of the spring suffocated fascist dictators (…)
Winning democracy is…. DOE A YAE…. DOE A YAE!(...)
(From Victory of KwutDawn, written by Dr Lwanswe on blog Moemakha 2014?)
Let’s start to write... Let’s start to write on banyan leaves…

DOE A YAE V
And let’s walk,walk, walk…

Let’s give poems to people.

“Let Poetry be our absolute weapon” wrote the belgian writer Raoul Vaneigem.
Let’s spread poem in the air from the bridge to the road where people where protestating in 88 for rights. Rights for democracy. And let’s walk walk walk….

Bogyoke Market

Let’s sit on the military chair lended by a shop seller.

Photos Yadanar Win

Let’s sit and write this poem where it was written also:
“(…) Warcraft by Bogyoke was not for killing civilians.
Sixth grader Sein Lwin, a blind deep fool...”

And let’s walk in the direction of Shwedagon Pagoda

Maha Wizaya Pagoda

Let’s sit again, facing an old woman who is selling birds to spread it in the sky for birthday wishes.
Let’s sit and write and give poems and spread one leaf in the water bassin.
And let’s walk walk walk and follow Yadanar and Htun

People Park

Let’s sit under a beautiful tree in a park where lovers meet
Let’s sit and write the poem that I know now by heart on 8 banyan leaves in memory to 8.8.88.

Photos Yadanar Win

Let’s put 8 candles between each toe,
echoing the image Elvira Santamaria created some years ago in memory
to the El Mozote Massacre in Salvador in 1981.
Let’s memorize about all massacred people in the world.

Photos Yadanar Win

Let poems to be part of the soil for next lovers who will come under this tree and let’s walk.
Walk and cross the park.
Htein Naing Htun feels tired. Never force people. Let’s stop to walk and take bus.

In the bus let’s continue to write on a leaf and give this to a passenger. Give give give.

H Ledan Bridge

At the middle of homeless children, do you want to continue here? ask Yadanar
I hesitate OK let’s try….
Here, I can’t write all the poem.
I can just write DOE A YAE! DOE A YAE!
What does it mean DOE A YAE! DOE A YAE!
What are rights of these children and parents here and now?
What means democracy here and now?
What means democracy and peace without equality?
Facing children who just ask for chalks…. what’s their power?
The philosopher Pierre Ansay juste wrote me “La puissance crée, le pouvoir empêche”…

Photos Yadanar Win

Let’s take another bus and continue on the Inya Lake Pyay Road where scores of students were killed
and some were under water until they are drownded.

Inya Lake

Photos Yadanar Win

Let the military chair to seat between rocks facing lake. Let’s write again on 8 leaves.

Photos Yadanar Win

Let homeless children to come around.
Let’s try to share a common moment.
Yadanar says they come to you because you don’t make difference...
Let’s learn from these children.
Let’s see how they are part from the earth.
They play, they enjoy the moment of “here and now” without expecting anything maybe.
Don’t expect anything from the other, from the “world”.
Let’s spread one leaf on the lake, even if it’s illegal.
Leaves doesn’t damage the water.
Leaves, let them float on the water.
Let it be Let it be….

Photos Yadanar Win

Let’s burn this book written by Dr Maung Maung who destroyed this country as Cool Man(AK) said.
Let’s burn even if it’s illegal.
Legality doesn’t mean justice…

Photos Yadanar Win

Children and me are taking care of the fire.
Let it burn let it burn…
Let’s observe together the fire near water on this earth.
We don’t speak the same language
They probably don’t know about this book
But let this moment to exist…
Some human hearts together on this earth…

RESILIENCE
Two “I” like Imagine
Can we imagine a country without any boundary?
“E” is the last letter of the word Resilience
“E”like End
Let’s imagine that End is the beginning of something else…

DOE A YAE IV

I was so engrossed in the performance at New Zero Art Space today that I even felt that I want to shout out loud. I was suffocated like I was back to the solitary cell for 28 days at interrogation center in prison. Each time after shouting "Doe A Yae", Burmese Artist Thyitar covered her face with a rubber band. Meanwhile Belgium Artist said "Our Rights", and she also covered her with rubber bands. While they were taking turns to do so, I was praying that rubber bands are used up faster. When I realized myself, I already got teary-eyed. I had to seal my mouth tightly to not cry out. Also when they cut rubber bands from each other's faces, I wanted them to do it quickly to loosen tighten areas on their faces. I recorded this performance because it touched me so. Thanks to Aye Ko and Madam Aye Ko for inviting me to the event. Kyi Khin Min Zaw

DOE A YAE II

DOE A YAE! OUR RIGHTS!....

What's about rights today in Burma?

We have no free speech, explains Zaw Min Naing, we know the thrue now but we can't speak about army.
Army controls everything.
25% of army is part of the Parliament.
We have no right to say something to army or we can be arrested.
Aung San Suu Kyi tries to change the situation, by putting them out of the Parliament, by sending soldiers to their original places…

So what's your personal "weapon", I ask, your "tool" to resist and to protect yourself when you have to face difficult situation? What's your way of resilience?…
I’m painting, I’m drawing, or I’m writing….

Let’s continue to write
DOE A YAE on banyan leaves...

DOE A YAE! (Independent Monument Mahar Bandula Park)

08/08/2019 is the 31th anniversary of the students protestation in Rangoon.

DOE A YAE was the slogan of students.

Let’s type on an old writing machine until a white page is full of DOE A YAE.

Let’s imagine people to rise up and shout all together DOE A YAE! DOE A YAE! DOE A YAE!

OUR RIGHTS! OUR RIGHTS! OUR RIGHTS!

Let’s imagine the arrest of Aye Ko in 1990, the arrest of Htein Lin in 1998 and all others…

Let’s imagine their desire of democracy and freedom and peace and how they struggled in jail...

What is peace?” said Aye Ko during his performances

What is peace? What human being needs to bring himself and society to peace?….

Let’s write DOE A YAE! DOE A YAE! DOE A YAE!
Let’s write, let’s try to remember…

On the writing machine, no more ink….

On the white paper, DOE A YAE! disappears slowly. Only the trace of typing.

DOE A YAE disappears slowly… Like our power, our abilities to fight for our rights and for democracy?

Today it’s 08/08.

Today it’s the anniversary of revolution which was called 8888.

Let’s wear 8 red candles. One candle between each foot finger.

Red like the color of blood when the army est intervened to restore the notion of “law and order” on 18/09/88.

When army shoots, it shoots to kill “ Ne Win had warned.

The army is not the problem. Army is protect the country. The problem today is the leader of army “ said Zaw Linn Thant “ Never give up! “ he said also.

Let’ continue to write DOE A YAE! DOE A YAE! DOE A YAE!

Let’s continue to say NO!, to fight for human rights and democracy, even if it disappears.

What does the human being needs today?

What Burma needs today?

Today, we need to change the constitution” said V Shine

What Myanmar needs today? What the human world needs today?

Zun Thu, Aye Ko's daughter says that she felt more free in USA when she was studying there.

Human being needs democracy and freedom.

In USA, today, people needs to fight also for democracy and freedom.

Everywhere people feels democracy is disappearing.

DOE A YAE! DOE A YAE! DOE A YAE!

OUR RIGHTS! OUR RIGHTS! OUR RIGHTS!

The white paper is completed with DOE A YAE! Even if it’s not visible.

On the stairs of the Independent Monument in Mahar Bandula Park, let’s write with a chalk, like at school, the end of the poem Liberty which was written by Paul Eluard in 1942 :

I was born to know you

To name you

Liberty “

Let’s write to remember.

We need to remember to repair.

Let’s light a candle near the word Liberty.

Let’s protect the candle from the wind. Let’s protect the candle from violence and dictatorship. Let’s hope.

Let’s protect the humanity.

Suffering can’t disappear, said V Shine. We need humanity and thinking. We need to take care of each other.”

Let’s remember, let’s repair, let’s hope.

Let’s pass the candle of hope to the young burmese boy who is sitting near the writing machine.

He’ll take care of hope.

He’ll take care of the word “Liberty”.

It’s time for the next generation to “never give up” as Zaw Linn Thant said.

Never give up….

DOE A YAE! DOE A YAE! DOE A YAE! DOE A YAE! DOE A YAE! DOE A YAE! DOE A YAE! DOE A YAE!

Happy Eid ul-Adha Thyitar!
Happy Eid ul-Adha to you dear Thyitar Happy Eid ul-Adha to you and to your family and to your community
Happy Eid ul-Adha to all muslims in Yangoon in Burma in Asia in the world

25/09/2015, someone wrote that “Muslims in Myanmar have been forced to keep celebrations Eid al-Adha low key, fearing reprisals from a Budhist nationalist group pressuring local governments to ban cattle slaughters that are central to the festivites ucanews.com reported on 28th september. Local authorities appear to be targetting Muslims celebrating Eid al-Adha in smaller townships such as Yamethin and Tharzi in Madalay Division, according to Muslim community members who spoke with ucanews.com Aung Thein, a Muslim leader, said local member of the influential Budhist nationalist group, Ma Ba Tha, have gone around town checking on whether cattle slaughters have taken place. Ma Ba Tha, or the Committee for the Protection of Race and Religion, has intensified anti-muslim rhetoric in recent months. This has raised fears that religion will be used as a political tool as the country gears up for the 8th november elections”.

What about politics today? What about the country today?
Zaw Min Naing told me yesterday that now even when people know the thrue, they can not speak freely. Army controls everything. What about their rights?
“We have no rights to say something to the army today or they can arrest us. 25% of army is part of the Parliament…. Aung San Suu Kyi tries to change the situation, by putting them out of the Parliament, by sending soldiers to their original places….”
What about religion today?
